Willing to Be Willing

Again He began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about Him, so that He got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. And He was teaching them many things in parables, and in His teaching He said to them: “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.  Mark 4:1-4

One Sunday, after preaching from the book of Ephesians about wives submitting to their husbands, a precious lady in our church who my wife and I loved very much came to me and said, “Pastor, it doesn’t bother me for you to preach on wives submitting to their husbands.  I’ve already decided that doesn’t apply to me.”

Is there an area in your life where the seed of God’s Word is being snatched away before it takes root because your circumstances or your desires have told you that it doesn’t apply to you?  It is dangerous for us to decide which of God’s commands we do not have to obey!

When we harden our hearts to God’s commands in His Word, it impossible for it to take root and grow.  Seed that doesn’t take root and grow will never bear fruit.

The good news is that even hard ground can be made soft again and ready for sowing seeds.  God is speaking to your heart right now, and asking you to be willing for Him to make you willing to obey all that He says.  Will you obey?

Have a great day, and keep moving forward!
