What We Really Need for Christmas

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. Galatians 4:4-5

Have you ever received a Christmas gift that you didn’t want, and didn’t think you needed?  One year, my cousin bought me an emergency tire pump. That was not something I thought I wanted or needed. So I  left it in the box and put it away for years.  But a few years later, I used that emergency tire pump – two times in the same week. Each time I used it I thanked the Lord and thanked my cousin for that gift.  It turned out that I really needed it!

When God sent His Son, He sent a gift that people said they didn't want. The Bible says, “He came to His own, and His own received Him not.”  But God’s gift of His Son is one we really need, because every person needs what only Jesus can give.

You may think that you don't need Jesus, because you feel that you are a pretty good person who doesn’t need to be saved.   But being saved is your greatest need!  The Bible says that we are all sinners and fall short of God’s glory.  The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Eternal life is a gift that God wants to give you, but you must receive it!

You might not think you need Jesus, but I want you to know something: You need Him today. I need Him. Every person on earth needs Him.

Have a great day and keep moving forward!
