Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to
you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John
In his book,
The Purpose of Christmas, Pastor Rick Warren tells about interviewing some Christian shoppers, and just asking them a simple question: What are you celebrating this Christmas?
Here were some of the answers he got:
“I’m celebrating that I made it through another year.”
“I’m celebrating being home with my family.”
“I got a Christmas bonus.”
“My son is home from Iraq.”
“The candidate I voted for got elected.”
“I’m celebrating that I’ve finished all my shopping.”
“I’m not celebrating anything, I’m just trying to survive.”
The problem - none of those answers had anything to do with Jesus! They were saying, "I'm celebrating at Christmas because of my circumstance."
Real peace is not simply a change in your circumstances or being delivered from your circumstances.
Real peace is having Jesus Christ with you in the middle of your circumstances, so that no matter what is going on, you can say, "I have peace because He is peace,
and He lives in me."
Jesus will be your peace if He's in your life. If He's ruling and reigning in your life this Christmas, He'll give you peace. But without Him, there's no peace.
Have a great day and keep moving forward!
