The Greatness of Our Shepherd

Last year, I spent a week with 500 servants of the Lord who are shepherding churches in the villages of North India, a place that has been known historically as the graveyard of missionaries because it is so closed to the gospel.

I shook the hands of men who have beaten and disowned from their families and thrown in prison for the sake of preaching the gospel.

Through the faithfulness of Finny Mathews and men like him, that graveyard is becoming a vineyard, and there is a mighty movement of God there, with people coming to Christ by the thousands and more and more churches being planted.

Jesus, the good shepherd, is turning people from the worthlessness of false shepherds as He promised He would.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. (John 10:10-11)

One of the blessings of being in India was hearing the vice-chancellor of the University of Jerusalem present a beautiful portrayal of Jesus, our Shepherd. Ive received his permission to share his words with you. Heres what he said:
