The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.
Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
One spring a family was driving from Fort Lauderdale to Tampa. Everywhere they looked, orange trees were loaded with fruit. When they stopped for breakfast, the father ordered orange juice with his eggs.
“I’m sorry,” the waitress said. “I can’t bring you orange juice. Our machine is broken.”
The man was amazed. They were surrounded by millions of oranges. He knew they had oranges in the kitchen – orange slices garnished each plate.
What was the problem? No juice?
Hardly. They were surrounded by thousands of gallons of juice. The problem was the employees in the restaurant couldn’t get at the juice.
Christians are sometimes like that. Just like the restaurant on that Florida highway was surrounded by oranges, we are surrounded by Bibles. But we often struggle with getting into our Bibles and getting something out of their Bibles.
If you've never read the Bible through, I challenge you to make plans to start as the new year begins. It may take a year, it may take 3 years, but keep reading! It will be one of the greatest blessings of your life as you spend time in the whole counsel of the Word of God!
Have a great day, and keep moving forward!
