Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians
There’s an old story of a young man who went away to college. As he left home, his mother handed him a Bible. She said, “Son, this is a new Bible. I want you to
promise me that you’ll read this Bible every day while you’re away at school. Just open it and read a portion of God’s Word each day. It will bless you.”
The young man promised his mom that he would, but got to school and soon forgot the promise. After a month or so, he ran low on money. He called home, “Mom,” he
said, “can you send me some money? I’m nearly broke.”
She said, "Are you reading your Bible every day?"
“Mom, I just haven’t gotten around to it.” His mom said, "Listen, if you'll read your Bible every day, it'll bless you."
Soon, he had absolutely nothing. He didn't understand what was going on. He called his mother again and said, "Mom, I really need you to give me some money. I
don't have enough to buy breakfast or lunch or dinner anymore."
"Are you reading your Bible every day?” she asked. "If you'll just read your Bible every day, it'll bless you. That’s all I’ve got to say."
Upset and a little angry, he went back to his dormitory and just sort of begrudgingly opened his Bible. There, in the middle, in the book of Psalms, was a check
for $750. His mom was right. When he read the Bible, it blessed him.
Can I tell you something? God will bless you when you have a heart knowledge of His Word.
Every son and daughter needs a heart knowledge of God's Word. Parents, we need a heart knowledge of God’s Word.
If we want our kids to be snow when it comes to spiritual matters, we had better be a blizzard.
Parents, teach your children to hold the Word of God in their hearts – it’s the greatest treasure we can give them.
Have a great day and keep moving forward!
