Raising Your Praise Level

O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh faints for You, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary, beholding Your power and glory. Because Your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise You. (Psalm 63:1-3)

There is an old story about a man who dreamed that an angel escorted him to church one Sunday. In the dream the man and the angel arrived at church just in time for the worship service. The man saw the musicians playing – keyboardist playing vigorously, guitarist strumming, drummer drumming.

He saw the praise team singing.

He saw the people in the congregation singing.

He saw it. But he didn't hear anything. Everything and everyone in the worship center was silent, like someone had hit the "mute" button on a remote control somewhere.

When the pastor stood to speak, his lips moved, he gestured with his hands but there was no sound.

Amazed, the man turned to his angel escort and asked for an explanation.

The angel said, "That's the way it sounds to us in heaven. You hear nothing because there is nothing to hear. These people are engaged in the form of praise and worship, but their thoughts are on other things and their hearts are far away".

I don't want God to hear silence when it comes time for me to praise Him, do you?

I want to engage Him, to worship Him, to know Him, to call on Him, to adore Him, to honor Him, to cry out to Him. I want my heart to be right so that He will hear me.

Has coming to church become simply routine for you? Do you even think about why you attend or what is happening when the Body of Christ comes together? Do you desire to worship God and encounter Him, or is your mind constantly elsewhere?

Remember that when we all gather for worship, truly seeking the Lord, He will answer. Are you ready?

Have a great day, and keep moving forward!
