Radical Change

No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.”  Mark 2:21-22

When I was young, I drove an old 1970 Monte Carlo that barely ran.  Every now and then, I would try to improve its performance by pouring fuel additive into the gas tank.  For a short time after adding it, the car ran a little better, but it never lasted.  It was only a temporary fix – a patch.

Some people treat Jesus like an additive in their lives.  They tend to think, "Well, I'm just going to add a little bit of Jesus to my life and see if He won't make things better."  That's not what Jesus came to do!

Jesus isn’t to be used as a patch sewn on the garment of your old life.  He came to make you brand new!  What do you think would bring more satisfaction: a bottle of fuel additive poured in the tank of a worn out car, or a brand new car?   In the same way, you will experience no real satisfaction by adding a little Jesus to your life.  But when you surrender to Jesus, He gives you a brand new life, He gives you real joy, and you will be radically changed!

Have a great day, and keep moving forward!
