Not a Myth

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything He might be preeminent. For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross.   Colossians 1:15-20

At first glance, the message on a billboard on a New Jersey highway appeared to be celebrating Christmas. It depicted a beautiful manger scene, the silhouette of the baby in the manger, the wise men, and the star of Bethlehem. But that billboard had been paid for by the American Atheists, and the caption read: “You know it’s a myth. This season, celebrate reason.”

Friend, Jesus is not a myth. His birth is not a fable, a fantasy, or a fairytale. His life, His death, and His resurrection are attested to more than any other historical event in all of history.

Jesus is not just one god among many; He is the One and only Son of God.  He is the only way, the only truth, the only life, and no one comes to God except through Him.

That is why we celebrate Him. That is why we worship Him. That is why we follow Him.  He lived. He died. He rose again. He lives in our hearts, and He is coming again one day for us.

Have a great day, and keep moving forward!
