Listen

"Listen."

It's a simple instruction that parents give our kids, and a life-changing word that God extends to His children.

Psalm 78:1 uses two expressions to call God's people to listen: "give ear" and "incline your ears."

Both phrases called for Israel to pay careful attention to what the Lord was about to say. As the Lord spoke to Israel in this historical psalm, He graciously warned them about the cost of rebellion against Him.

When we listen to God, He shows us things we would not otherwise see and alerts us to hazards we would never detect on our own.

There are so many voices competing for our attention that it's easy to forget to listen to God. When we stop paying attention to His voice and His commands, we will find ourselves in danger.

Today, listen carefully to God as you read His Word and pray.

Have a great day, and keep moving forward!
