Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time
he may exalt you,
casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1
A father was with his family on a trip in Nigeria, he and his wife, and their teenage daughters. They spent the night in a small hotel room.
It was chaos and catastrophe the next morning as everyone was getting ready in one bathroom. Hairdryers were blowing, curling irons curling, makeup being applied,
all of these things going on – not to mention the wet towels all over the floor, beds unmade, clothes strewn everywhere.
Then, a knock came on the door. The father opened up the door, and there was a smiling Nigerian man, who said, "Sir, I'm here for your room service."
The father looked around at the war zone, and he said, "Oh, you can't come in right now. This place is a mess."
The man smiled again and said, "Sir, no problem. For this reason I have come, to clean up your mess."
Sometimes we say the same thing to Jesus. “Let me get my life straightened out, and then I’ll be ready for You to come in, Jesus.”
You know what Jesus says? "For this reason I have come: to clean up your mess."
Jesus wants to come right into the middle of your mess, and put everything in order.
Have a great day and keep moving forward!
