We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities,
like the wind, take us away.
Years ago, there was a paper company in England that was famed for making the most expensive
stationery in the world.
One day a man took a tour of the factory. He asked the person giving him the tour: “What
do you make your paper from?”
His guide took him to a place in the factory where there was a mountain of old dirty rags.
The guide pointed to the huge pile and said, “We make our paper from these.”
“In fact,” he said, “the rag content is what determines the quality of the paper.”
The man wouldn’t believe it. How could such beautiful paper come from dirty old rags?
In a few weeks he received a package of stationery from the company with his initials
embossed on each page.
On the top piece were written the words: “Dirty rags transformed.”
Do you know something? To know Jesus Christ and His salvation is to have the dirty rags
of our old life transformed by the grace and the power of God.
In the book of Isaiah, the Bible tells us that men and women, at our very best, are like
polluted garments, or dirty rags, when compared to the holiness of God. Yet by the grace of God, God reaches down to us and transforms us. He saves us and He gives us new lives.
He takes a mountain of old, filthy rags and turns us into something glorious and wonderful
through His grace and through His Son, Jesus Christ. Aren’t you thankful to God for that today?
Have a great day and keep moving forward!
