night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of
darkness and put on the armor of light.
There’s an old Cherokee legend about a young boy who
was going up a mountain when he saw a rattlesnake.
The rattlesnake spoke to the boy and said, “Little boy,
will you please take me to the top of the mountain you’re climbing? I’m old,
and I want to see just one more sunset before I die, and I can’t make it
The boy said, “Well, you’re a rattlesnake. If I pick
you up, you’ll bite me, and I’ll die.”
The rattlesnake said, “Oh, I promise I won’t bite you.”
And so the boy picked up the rattlesnake and held it close to his chest and
climbed all the way up to the top of the mountain. And he and the rattlesnake
sat and watched as the sun set over the mountain. And then he took the
rattlesnake back down and took him to his own home, fed him some food, and
kept him there overnight.
The next morning, the rattlesnake said, “Will you take
me back to the woods where I live, so that I can go there and die?” So the
boy picked up the rattlesnake and carried him all the way to the woods, back
to his home, and as he was getting ready to put the rattlesnake down, the
rattlesnake struck and bit him in the chest.
The little boy said, “You promised me you wouldn’t bite
me. Now I’m going to die!”
The rattlesnake smiled and said, “You knew what I was
when you picked me up.”
you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you,
you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be
found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering,
anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a
sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or
one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these
things is an abomination to the Lord. And
because of these abominations the Lord your God
is driving them out before you.
God’s word warns us about the dangerous trap of the
Occult. God wants His people to know what this abominable thing is before we
pick it up. It may look enchanting, it may look harmless, it may look fun, it
may appeal to your imagination and to your desire for fantasy, but can I tell
you something? The Bible says it is an abomination to the Lord, and when you
pick it up, it will destroy you.
Praise God that He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to
the kingdom of his beloved Son,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:13-14)
Great Day and Keep Moving Forward!
