Clear Command

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

When I was 13 years old my dad said, "Son, from now on, it's your job to mow the lawn. I want you to do it every week."  He gave me a clear command; however, there were a few problems.

I didn't know how to mow the lawn. I didn't have a lawnmower. I didn't have money to buy gas for a lawnmower. What did my dad do?

He took me to the hardware store and bought a brand new lawnmower, just for me. He bought a new gas can, just for me. On the way home, we stopped and got gas for the lawnmower.

Then he taught me how to start the engine and how to use the lawnmower. He provided everything I needed to do what he had commanded me to do. Then, he paid me to do it! Praise the Lord!

God has clearly commanded us to always rejoice, and He is the one who makes us able.

Paul wrote this command from God while in chains for preaching the gospel. God’s presence with Paul gave him every reason to rejoice!  Paul knew God would provide, protect and empower him to do all He had asked him to do.  God will do the same for you!

Have a great day, and keep moving forward!
