We can find encouragement through the companionship of God's people.
Close friends, Christian companions can be mighty tools in God's hands to bring us encouragement.
Marine researchers off the coast of Corsica reported sighting a dolphin that was behaving strangely. The dolphin was not swimming. It was just watching their boat
draw nearer and nearer.
They decided that the dolphin was sick so they netted it and examined it. The dolphin did not resist and showed no fear. The examination revealed no sign of any
wound or illness. Yet, an hour later the animal was dead!
The marine researchers concluded that — for some unknown reason — the dolphin must have been ostracized by other dolphins. When they are excluded in this way,
they become desperate, attach themselves to anyone or anything and sometimes will themselves to die.
Like the dolphin, we need fellowship. We need companionship. We need each other. But hear me carefully — we need the companionship and friendship of other believers.
There's an old Latin saying that goes, "If you always live with those who are lame, you will begin to limp."
The Bible puts it this way in 1 Corinthians 15:33:
Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”
Have a great day, and keep moving forward!
Suggested Bible Reading
Today as you pray…
Consider the company you keep: Are these people leading you closer to Jesus or further away from Him?
Ask God to give you wisdom in your friendships.
Reflect on the importance friendships have played in your life and thank God for putting people in your life that have helped you follow Christ.
